What to look for in a great college rec center
When you are on a college tour, don’t just walk past the gym—go inside! A great rec center can be a game-changer for your stress levels and social life. Here are some things to look for when you visit:
- Variety of equipment: Does the gym have enough cardio and weight machines that you won’t have to wait in line?
- Inclusive spaces: Look for individual fitness studios, indoor sand volleyball courts, or bouldering areas if traditional lifting isn’t your thing.
- Wellness services: The best centers offer holistic health practices, including massage services, juice bars, or even light therapy for those gray winter months.
- Hours and access: Check if the center stays open late or if they have live webcams so you can see how crowded it is before you leave your dorm.
