2016 Hidden Gems: The Best College in Every State that Receives Fewer Than 5,000 Applications

1_hiddden_gem_2016One of the most important things that we do at College Raptor is to help students discover new college options. Most of us are only familiar with a small handful of local or regional colleges–big state schools, perhaps a famous private. Beyond that, few of us know what options are out there, or which schools may be a great fit.

With the second installment of our Hidden Gems series, we again are shining the spotlight on colleges across the country that are often overlooked. They may be great schools that are in your backyard or just across state lines that you’ve never heard of.

As with last year, we selected this list based on a specific set of criteria:

  • College must receive fewer than 5,000 applications
  • College must enroll 1,000 or more undergraduates

From this list, we then selected the best college in each state, based on our national overall rankings, as the Hidden Gem from that state.
