About East Asian Studies

A program that focuses on the history, society, politics, culture, and economics of one or more of the peoples of East Asia, defined as including China, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Taiwan, Tibet, related borderlands and island groups, and including the study of the East Asian diasporas overseas.

For all the 419 degrees granted in East Asian Studies annually, the majority of them are Bachelors degree. Of the 166 students earning degrees at the Masters degree level across the US, 56% percent identify as women and 44% percent identify as men. Though students at schools all over the country study East Asian Studies, California has the most graduates. The average starting salary for a graduate with a bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies is $42,750.
