After their first year at Penn, 98%% of freshman continue their education at the university. 88% go on to graduate within four years and 96% within six, one of the best rates in the country.

With over 4,600 professors, Penn has a 8 to 1 student to faculty ratio, very high for the mid-east. All students are assigned at least one adviser to help them during their time at the school, including advice for academics and extracurricular activities. Several professors also live within the college houses, which can act as an extension of the classroom. These living arrangements also result in learning experiences for the professors.

The university features students from all over the globe but a majority come from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, California, and Florida. Penn also offers students ROTC (Air Force, Navy, Army), study abroad programs, distance learning, and weekend/evening classes.
