About Clinical/Medical Social Work

Clinical/Medical Social Work programs prepare individuals for the specialized professional practice of social work, in collaboration with other health care professionals, in hospitals and other health care facilities and organizations. Includes instruction in social work, psychiatric case work, clinical interviewing techniques, therapeutic intervention strategies, patient testing and evaluation, patient and family counseling, social rehabilitation, patient care planning, record-keeping, and support services liaison.

For all the 2,797 degrees granted in Clinical/Medical Social Work per year, the majority of them are Masters degree. Out of the 2,300 students graduating with degrees at the Masters degree level across the US, 88% percent identify as women and 12% percent identify as men.
