Rover College Scholarship
America’s favorite pet-sitting network knows dogs are family, and they’re giving graduating high-school seniors and college students the chance to win $1,000 for college expenses just for writing about how dogs have impacted human lives.
Simply write a 400 to 500 word essay detailing how the domestication of dogs has had a positive impact on society and benefited human happiness, and the $1,000 could be yours! There are some eligibility requirements and rules, so be sure to check those out.
P.L.A.Y.’s Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship
P.L.A.Y. makes stylish and sustainable pet beds, and they also help make college dreams come true! The Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship is awarded to one high-school student who tells the best story of improving the life of a rescue animal or an animal welfare cause.
Because there were a record number of entries last year, P.L.A.Y. has added two prizes in addition to the scholarship:
- First prize: One $1,000 college scholarship
- Second prize: 10 beds to be donated to a shelter of your choice
- Third prize: 5 toys to be donated to a shelter of your choice
Equine Scholarship Fund
There are scholarships for horse lovers, too! Dr. Atwood Asbury served the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine for more than 20 years. He and his wife created a scholarship to help undergraduate students most likely to excel in equine practice.

Merck Veterinary Student Scholarship Program
A passion for animals is free, but veterinary school can be very expensive. That’s why Merck Animal Health offers $170,000 in scholarships annually to exceptional second and third-year veterinary students around the globe.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, financial need, and area of interest within veterinary medicine. Here’s the breakdown:
- Twenty $5,000 scholarships to students attending veterinary school in the U.S., Canada, or the Caribbean
- Fourteen $5,000 scholarships to students attending select international veterinary schools

Oxbow Animal Health Scholarships

Oxbow offers four competitive academic scholarships:
