About Accounting

Accounting programs prepare individuals to practice the profession of accounting and to perform related business functions. Includes instruction in accounting principles and theory, financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, budget control, tax accounting, legal aspects of accounting, auditing, reporting procedures, statement analysis, planning and consulting, business information systems, accounting research methods, professional standards and ethics, and applications to specific for-profit, public, and non-profit organizations.

For all the 55,353 degrees awarded in Accounting per year, the majority of them are Bachelors degree. Of the 13 students graduating with degrees at the Post masters certificate level across the US, 69% percent identify as women and 31% percent identify as men. While students at schools all over the US study Accounting, Michigan has the most graduates. The average starting salary for an undergraduate degree in Accounting is $46,700.
