School of Music Scholarship'Non-majors
Each year the School of Music awards $8,000 and $6,000 scholarships to qualifying incoming freshmen and transfer students. Awards are given on a competitive basis and are distributed at $2,000/year and $1,500/year respectively over four years. Requirements: Applicants must currently be studying music with a private instructor and have a minimum high school GPA of 2.50 and a record of good citizenship. The award is based on an audition demonstrating musical ability. Distribution and Renewal: To qualify for scholarship renewal each semester, the recipient must: 1. Register for the ensemble that corresponds to the performance area for which the scholarship was awarded (voice - Die Meistersinger, Bel Canto; winds/percussion - Wind Symphony; strings - Symphony Orchestra). 2. Take a second music course (private lessons, a second ensemble, or any other School of Music course). 3. Maintain good and regular standing as a university student, taking a full load (12+ hours). 4. Maintain a minimum university GPA of 2.50. 5. Earn grades of B or higher in all MUPF courses.
