$1,000 scholarship winner Terry is an engineering student and ROTC member on his campus. His strong work ethic and drive carried into his college search where he used College Raptor to explore options, learn more about potential schools, and utilized our free tools to support him along the way.
College Raptor: What College Raptor tool helped you the most during your college search?
Terry: The College Raptor tool that helped me the most during my college search was the College Match Tool. It showed me colleges that matched my interests, academic level, and goals. It also recommended schools that I had not even thought of applying to.
College Raptor: What advice would you give to students who are starting the college application process?
Terry: Advice I would give to new students applying to colleges is to not be afraid to look at different colleges. Try to start early and find the best college for you, not just the big-name schools.
College Raptor: Did the College Match tool introduce you to colleges you had not previously considered?
Terry: Yes, College Match introduced me to colleges that I had not even considered. It surprised me that other schools matched my interests.
College Raptor: What does going to college mean to you and your family?
Terry: Going to college means a lot to my family, as I am the second person, after my sister, to attend a four-year university. My parents work hard, and it means a lot to them to see me go to college. My family believes it is a big accomplishment for my future.
College Raptor: Do you plan to work while you are in college?
Terry: As of now, I do not have a job or plan on working while in college. I am an engineering and ROTC student, meaning I rarely have any free time. That is why I am grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship.
Terry’s perseverance helped him navigate the college search process with confidence. With its powerful search tools and variety of personalized resources, College Raptor proved to be the right place for Terry to explore his options and find the path that best fits his goals.
