Glyn And Martha Gilliam Scholarship
Mr. Johnny G. “Glyn” Gilliam and Martha E. Gilliam established the Glyn and Martha Gilliam Endowed Scholarship in memory of Mr. T. J. Honeycutt, a former professor of agricultural sciences and Head Teacher Trainer at Sam Houston State University. Glyn Gilliam, originally from Donie, Texas was the youngest of nine children. He was a first generation college student and one of two in his family to graduate from SHSU. It is the Donor’s intent to provide two annual scholarship awards for a minimum of $1,000 each (one awarded to an agriculture education major and one to an agriculture business major) to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. Scholarship awards shall not exceed the earnings of the endowment. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
