Sociology students study the various aspects of social development and social structure. They focus on the study of the collective behavior of people in different societies as opposed to the study of individual behavior. LAGRANT Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship
Amount: $2,500

The Public Relations Society of America funds the LAGRANT Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship. To apply for this $2,500 award, you must meet the following requirements:
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, belong to one of these ethnic groups—Asian American, African American, Latino/Hispanic, American Indian or Pacific Islander. Full-time student, currently attending a 4-year accredited institution in the United States, and pursuing a major in sociology, anthropology, communications, or art, among a few others may apply.
Your application must include your high school transcript, a list of relevant extracurricular activities, a letter of recommendation written by an internship advisor or college professor, and a 1-2 page essay highlighting how you aim to handle the lack of ethnic diversity in the fields of public relations, marketing, and advertising.
In addition to the scholarship money, winners will get an opportunity to participate in professional development workshops in Chicago.
Mark Duda Scholarship Fund
Amount: $1,000 — $7,000

If you have participated in at least one Marketing EDGE program, you may be eligible to apply to the Mark Duda Scholarship Fund, which is funded by the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation. The Foundation offers one award of $1,000 — $7,000 every year to students majoring in sociology, business, marketing, economics, psychology, analytics, communications or advertising.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to apply for this award. Along with your high school transcript and details of activities, you must submit an essay explaining why you may be eligible for a Marketing EDGE scholarship.
Alpha Kappa Delta Undergraduate Student Paper Award
Amount: $100 –$1,000
Deadline: March 1, 2020
The Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society offers multiple scholarships to sociology students currently enrolled in a 4-year program in a college or university in the US. The awards range from $100 to $1,000. All applicants must be current members of Alpha Kappa Delta. Applications must be accompanied by an essay that meets the very specific requirements mentioned on the scholarship site.
Marsh Minority Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: TBD for 2021-2022 (Opens early November)
The Amarillo Area Foundation (AAF), Inc administers the Marsh Minority Scholarship The goal of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to African American and Hispanic students enrolled at West Texas A&M University.
To apply for this $1,000 award, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be an African-American or Hispanic student
- Currently enrolled in a full-time program at the West Texas A&M University
- Must be majoring in the field of sociology, education, allied health, general studies or nursing
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA
- Be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident
All applicants must submit their high school transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, and proof of US citizenship. They must also include two recommendation letters, one from a teacher and the other from a mentor, employer or coach.
The $1,000 award is renewable for one additional year.
Jesse B. Smith Memorial Scholarship
