Where Powerful Women Went to College

On June 14th, 2016 the United State of Women had its first-ever summit. The event drew thousands of attendees and 278 key speakers. Included were powerful women like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Shonda Rhimes, and Kerry Washington to name just a few.

Speakers talked about a variety of issues that face women today. For example, the wage gap, workplace discrimination, stereotypes, and the safety of women on college campuses. They celebrated women’s rights achievements and outlined all the undone work. It wasn’t all talk, however, as the White House put $50 million into programs and commitment to aid women and young girls all around the world!

So we got to wondering: where did all these powerhouse women go to college? We selected 25 amazing US women and highlighted their undergraduate schools and majors. To be certain, women in the United States still face a lot of hardships and stereotypes, but luckily we have these incredible role models to look up to. These CEOs, chairwomen, activists, actresses, personalities, and businesswomen are paving the way for women’s rights and gender equality not only in the United States, but the whole world over!
