Starting your college search and finding colleges that fit you

In this video series, you’ll learn how to start your college search, finding colleges that fit you, and the basics of evaluating and comparing colleges to see which ones are right for you.

We’ll cover topics related to:

  • How to evaluate college
  • How to choose a major
  • When you should apply
  • How to understand college costs

This video course won’t cover everything there is to know about the college search, but it should give you a good place to start finding colleges that fit you and some ideas for how to proceed. Once you understand the basics and have an idea of what to look for, then you can start to try to answer more specific questions about your college search.

In the future, we’ll cover more topics related to college search, admissions, and financial aid in this series and in new videos that we produce along the way.

Why is that? And what does it mean for you as a student? This video will explain the discrepancy and why the price difference may not mean as much as you think it does.

How Do Other Students Afford Very Expensive Colleges?

Some colleges have a published cost of $50,000 or even $60,000 per year. This amount can seem unreasonable–how on Earth do people afford to pay that price?! Are these students all only from wealthy families? In this video we will dispel some myths about the cost of college and explain how many of the nation’s most-expensive colleges can actually be affordable for many students.

Can I Get Financial Aid?

Ready to apply? Now you have to answer the next big question: When? This video discusses the prospect of applying to a college early action, factors to consider in making the decision, and the benefits and drawbacks of doing so.

Should I Apply Early Decision?

Much like the early action video, this one will discuss the idea of applying early decision. Including how it will impact your admissions odds, when you should apply ED, and when it might not be a good idea.
