If you are a resident of Nebraska and looking for grants or scholarships to assist with college expenses, you’re in luck! Nebraska has three programs available to students to help make attending college and university more affordable. Keep reading to learn more about what these programs entail plus resources to help you find additional information.

Nebraska State Grants

1. Access College Early Scholarship Program

The Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship Program is for students who demonstrate need and are enrolled in college courses during high school. The program covers tuition and any associated fees with the program.

In order to qualify, students have to submit their application and be eligible for a federal need-based government program, show they have experienced extreme hardship that affects income, or be participating in the state’s Career Education program.

2. Nebraska Opportunity Grant

Also known as NOG, the Nebraska Opportunity Grant is open to students who can demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To apply, the student must be a Nebraska resident, be attending a Nebraska college or university, and meet the minimum Expected Family Contribution (EFC) requirement. This is awarded through the schools themselves, so students should complete their FAFSAs to apply.

3. Community College Gap Assistance Program

This program is for students enrolled in credit and non-credit programs at their community college. Need-based, the Gap Program is available to those who have a family income at or below 250% of federal poverty guidelines. The grant can then be used for a variety of fees and school-related expenses.

However, in order to be eligible, students have to be studying a high-need field such as biosciences, renewable energy, financial services, and agriculture. Eligible areas of study can change from year to year.
